Giessen – The E. van Wijk Group, an internationally operating logistic service provider, having it’s headquarter in Giessen, Holland, has acquired Ryano Logistics, based in Klundert, Holland.
For several years the companies have had a close cooperation. Ewout van Wijk, CEO of the E. van Wijk Group, started his career at Ryano in 2010 as a project manager. Two years later he took over the daily management. This period has been a valuable preparation for the takeover. "After leaving Ryano, the contacts have always remained very good and friendly," says Ewout.
Ryano Logistics was founded 19 years ago by Pieter van der Weijden. "Ryano starts where most companies stop", Pieter explains full of enthusiasm. "Nothing is impossible. Complex logistic issues are not a problem but a challenge. Given the fact that a successor wouldn’t be available on the midterm, I started to prepare the takeover of Ryano in time”. Given the intense cooperation with the E. van Wijk Group and Ewout in particular, them being the company to acquire Ryano was a logical step.
"As we have been working together with Ryano for many years and, on a regular basis do receive requests from our customers for project- and/or exceptional transport, the acquisition was a logical step to take" adds Ewout. "The acquisition broadens our capacity and potential to serve our clients hugely".
With the acquisition, the E. van Wijk Group expands its fleet by over 70 units. The current employees of Ryano are of great importance for the ongoing business of Ryano, their jobs will continue within the E. van Wijk Group. "The specific expertise of the employees is of great importance, we like to keep that knowledge within the company," says Ewout van Wijk.
The E. van Wijk Group is located in the Netherlands, Romania, Poland and Ukraine. With a fleet of over 350 trucks, the company provides transportation within Western Europe and out of Western Europe towards Eastern Europe and the CIS countries (vv). The logistic services do include warehousing, cross-docking, groupage transport, (inter)national distribution and customs services. With the Ryano acquisition, the E. van Wijk Group has now added project- and exceptional transport to the existing service portfolio.
The E. van Wijk Group employs over 800 enthusiastic employees who collectively generate a turnover of around 100 million euros.
