Mariloginsa, part of Noroccidental, Assists with a Sunken Ship Rescue from the Galapagos Island Waters

Mariloginsa part of Noroccidental, Project Logistics Alliance Member for Ecuador, helps out with a rescue operation of a sunken vessel in the Galápagos Marine Reserve.
The Galapagos Marine Reserve, located in the Galápagos Islands and the nearby waters, is a large protected area located about 1000 kilometers off the coast of Ecuador. It covers an area of approximately 100,000 square kilometers and is home to a unique ecosystem with a high level of biodiversity and it is a World Natural Heritage Site.
In April 2022, a scuba diving boat named the "Albatros" carrying approximately 7000 liters of diesel sank near one of the Galapagos Islands. This caused an oil slick and to minimize the impact on marine ecosystems, immediate actions were taken. Additionally, as required by environmental regulations, the ship needed to be raised from the bottom, and Noroccidental Group was hired to do the job.
The execution of the project involved careful planning to ensure that it would not have any negative effects on the protected area and would comply with all relevant guidelines. A 770-ton crawler crane and a 4,000-ton ocean barge were used to successfully lift the 50 meters long ship from the ocean floor.
