For a modernization and expansion project at the Quevedo electrical substation, our Project Logistics Alliance member from Ecuador MARILOGINSA received and moved an electrical transformer at the Port of Contecon in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The vessel arrived from Shanghai, China. This transformer is part of the newly installed equipment. The total value of the investments sums up to 40 million dollars and will serve more than 600.000 people in the region.
The dimensions of the transformer were 7 meters in length and 4.11 meters in width. After successfully discharging the 380 tons transformer, the team of MARILOGINSA carefully took off to the final destination in Quevedo. Customs clearance and the route study were also included in the scope of work. A special challenge were more than 15 bridges that the convoy had to pass. 5 of them had to be reinforced to support the weight of the commodity. Further, the convoy was passing 18 roundabouts on the 200 km journey to the job site. Upon arrival, the team used a jacking system and hydraulic modular to put the transformer in place.
Enjoy watching the video to get some insights into the operations on site. Congratulations to this successfully executed project, MARILOGINSA!
