Over the new year, the Goodrich Central Asia team received an urgent request to airlift pipe spools from Kuwait for an Oil and gas customer in Atyrau, Kazakhstan. For this, the Goodrich team decided to charter an Airbus 300 freighter.
The cargo was trucked down to Sharjah airport in the nick of time to catch the scheduled chartered aircraft, but by then, Kazakhstan had slipped into civil unrest, and an emergency was declared in the country.

Without access to the outside world due to the internet & communications shutdowns, there were no means available for the Goodrich team to communicate with the airline partners or agents. The ongoing unrest now has further spiraled out of control, with the army on the streets monitoring all vehicular movements & air traffic operations. A tiny window of opportunity presented itself where the internet was restored for a mere 30 mins just a day ahead of the scheduled departure, which helped the team communicate with their partners and agents to move forward with the shipment.

While amidst the violent protests, the Goodrich operations team had to organize special permits to transfer the cargo from the airport to the largest oil field job site in Atyrau.
Hats off to the Kazakhstan team for undertaking such great difficulty to execute this top urgent shipment expeditiously and in such a challenging environment. The Goodrich team extends their gratitude to their partners and agents involved in the execution of this project for timely assistance.
It was indeed an eventful start to the year for the Central Asia team, who are ready to bring on 2022!
