Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – Heavy Industry Logistics Ltd (HiLOG), a Project Logistics Alliance member from Kenya, recently orchestrated the transportation of an onshore drilling rig all the way from Hull, United Kingdom, to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The company strategically utilized the MV Bohwa Tsingtao for this challenging task by teaming up with the PLA partner for chartering KAF Marine. Employing a last in-first out approach, the rig found its place snugly nestled between the vessel's lower hold, tween deck, and weather deck.

However, the operation encountered an eleventh-hour twist when the Tanzanian client urgently requested additional oilfield equipment. Despite the tight one-day notice, Heavy Industry Logistics and KAF Marine managed to secure extra space and swiftly coordinated the delivery of the equipment from Aberdeen to Kingston upon Hull, ensuring it was seamlessly integrated for loading without any delay.
With all preparations in place, the MV Bohwa Tsingtao set sail from Hull on the 10th of August, adhering closely to the scheduled departure. The vessel is anticipated to reach the shores of Dar es Salaam on the 3rd of September.

This successful transfer stands as the second successful rig move for HiLOG in just as many months, underscoring their abilities to execute intricate logistics operations. The accomplishment owes much to the exceptional collaboration between the client, shipper, origin partner, third-party entities, and the indispensable contribution of KAF Marine.
Looking ahead, HiLOG will take charge of the operation's subsequent stages, which involve the clearance process and the final delivery to a site located slightly over 1,000 kilometres away from the port of Dar es Salaam.
Congratulations, team Heavy Industry Logistics and KAF Marine, for a successful partnership!
