News from Georgia! This time, our member Gianti Logistics has moved two transformers with the dimensions of 27 x 5 x 5.20 meters per unit. The transportation was performed by multi-axle low boy hydraulic trailers. The transformers were loaded at the Turkish – Georgian border in Aktash/ Kartsakhi.
Gianti Logistics’ project team had all hands full to collect the transformers and place them by jacking/sliding method safely onto the Georgian trailers, lash the cargoes safely on the trailers and arrange police escort for the transport.
In addition, arrangements for civil work had to be made and a special team had to be hired for the lifting of gas pipes, wires and cables and the leveling of the roads all along the full route. Sharp turns, height restrictions and the mountain passage added more challenges to this project.
Upon arrival at the final destination at Noravan Substation in Goris, Armenia, the Gianti team again used the jacking/sliding system to place the transformers on the foundation for installation.
