FLS Group and Fleet Line Shipping Overcome Complex Offshore Logistics to Deliver Jack-Up Barge to the Maldives

In late 2024, FLS Group, a member of the Project Logistics Alliance representing Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, collaborated with Fleet Line Shipping Services LLC, the network’s representative in the United Arab Emirates, to tackle a high-stakes logistics challenge. The operation involved transporting a deconstructed modular jack-up barge from Sharjah, UAE, to the Maldives.

The logistics process began with the careful collection of cargo at the Sharjah Free Trade Zone, followed by precise vessel loading. However, the real challenge emerged upon arrival in Hanimaadhoo, Maldives, where shallow waters made direct discharge at the port impossible. In response, FLS Group and Fleet Line Shipping Services orchestrated a transfer to anchorage, using landing craft and vessel cranes to offload the cargo safely.
The unloading phase was further complicated by high swells, shifting tides, and constant rain. Despite these adverse conditions, and in collaboration with a partner company in the Maldives - the team worked diligently to ensure a flawless handover of the cargo to its final destination: a remote private jetty.
