Express Global Logistics(EXG), Project Logistics Alliance member for India, was selected to transport transformers and their corresponding accessories from the western region of India to Leyte, Philippines. The primary transformer was transported via a Roll-on/Roll-off (RORO) vessel, while the accessories were moved separately using containers.
Due to the need to traverse multiple islands in the Philippines to reach the mainland, transporting the cargo posed significant challenges. The cargo, measuring 5.2 meters in length, 3.5 meters in width, and 3.5 meters in height, weighing 59 metric tons, demanded meticulous planning and extreme precision.

To overcome these hurdles, EXG collaborated with fellow Philippines member Scan Global Logistics. This partnership facilitated the successful completion of the delivery operations. The transformers arriving via the RORO vessel and the containers arriving at different ports were efficiently managed by EXG and Scan Global Logistics at the destination.
Upon arrival at the destination, the transformer faced a daunting journey of 610 km across demanding road segments. The transportation was executed using hydraulic axles, traversing from the discharge port to a Philippine Island and connecting to multiple LCT (Landing Craft Tank) loading points on different islands during the transit. This complex multimodal transport process involved seamless transitions between land and water, presenting unique challenges. A comprehensive route survey was conducted, leading to the selection of alternative routes to accommodate limitations posed by bridges.

One of the additional obstacles was the stringent timeline for transformer installation, which necessitated the replacement of an existing transformer at the site. EXG, in conjunction with Scan Global Logistics, tackled these challenges through efficient coordination, meticulous planning, strategic manoeuvres, and effective communication with the vessel at the origin. This collaboration ensured that the LCT vessels at the destination were not missed, reducing delivery time instead of waiting an entire week for another vessel.

Consequently, the primary transformer reached its final destination, where it was skillfully unloaded from the hydraulic axles using jacking and skidding operations. The entire voyage was marked by precision and flawless planning, guaranteeing the secure and efficient handling of the cargo. The PLA team congratulates Express Global and Logistics and Scan Global Logistics on this successful collaboration.
